Installing Dial Up Networking Windows 95/ 98/ NT

In this lesson, we are going to check to see if you have the ability on your Microsoft Windows computer to dial into UCF from home using a modem.

We go to the "Start" button and click...move over to settings...over to control panel...click, and we look for "Add and Remove Programs." There it is at the top.

Double click.

Several tabs are at the top, and we want the one that is titled "Windows Set Up."

Clicking it we will see a list with little icons next to it.
Notice the one with the telephone communications.

To get into there we will need to double click the telephone. So we do that.

The very first one on my list is dial up networking. If there is a checkmark there, that is good. If there is not a checkmark, that is not good. There is a checkmark here which is great.

When you do this, if there is not a checkmark, you will need to install dial up networking from your original systems disk (Windows 95/98 disk).

Simply insert it into your computer and follow the directions in order to install dial up networking.

Then you will be able to catch up with us in the next demonstration, which is how to set up dial up net so that you can dial up to UCF. See you then!
